The Victoria International School of Sharjah’s uniform Dress Code reinforces in students a pride in their own appearance, instils recognition of themselves as an integral part of the school community and assists in developing pride in representing their school. All students must make the effort to wear their school uniform correctly and with pride.

Uniform Guidelines

ELC and Primary

Tops/Shirts

  • Only VISS approved school jumpers can be worn 
  • ELC white polo shirt  
  • Primary - Blue and white checked school shirt  
  • Shirt buttons all done up except collar button and sleeves unfolded 
  • White undershirt can be worn - no other colour is acceptable 

Footwear

  • ELC/Primary - All black shoes in the ELC and Primary, these may be velcro (no colours or designs). Socks are to be blue or white and must be seen above the ankle 

Please Note: There is no distinction between girls and boys footwear  

Trousers/Shorts

  • Blue school trousers 
  • Shorts need to be at least knee-length when  purchased  

Headwear /Jewelry/ Accessories  

  • Hijab must be pinned in place (if worn), this  must be all black, blue or all white 
  • Earrings - Small sleepers or studs are permitted 
  • No oversized ear rings, metal clips or bows are to be worn. All hair ties must be discrete and line with school  colours 
  • Hair shoulder length or longer must be tied, high, up off the neck and back. No hair should cover the face
    • Extreme Hair – No unnatural colours, no lines or markings cut into the hair and haircuts must be of the same length (Mohawks, Tails, Logos shaved into the head and asymmetrical haircuts are not permitted) any issues,  parent contact will be made and the expectation is the hairstyle will be fixed ASAP
  • Sun-smart hats must be broad brimmed  

Dresses/Skirts/Pants/Tights/Leggings

  • Primary - Pinafore with blue and white checked shirt  
  • Skirts and dresses need to be at least knee-length - Blue school skirt at least knee-length  
  • Tights must be blue or white and full length

Students are expected to have their Physical Education (PE) uniform when they have Primary school PE

School approved house polo shirt, VISS PE track pants, shorts must be at least knee-length for both boys and  girls, trainers with white socks, VISS bathers/swimsuit and swim cap for swimming  

Please note: Primary school students wear their PE uniform for the whole day 

Secondary School

Tops/Shirts

  • Blue school shirt (short or long sleeve) 
  • Only VISS approved school jumpers and jackets can be worn 
  • Grade 12 final year Jacket with the year of their graduation (only to be worn by Grade 12) 
  • Shirt buttons all done up except collar button and sleeves unfolded 
  • White undershirt can be worn - no other colour is acceptable 

Footwear

  • All Black closed, lace up or buckled shoes (no colours or designs and the shoe should not be open)  
  • Socks are to be navy blue for boys and white for girls and must be above the ankle   

Trousers/Shorts

  • Blue school trousers that have not been  tailored to be fitted and must cover the ankle
  • Shorts need to reach below the knee when  seated (boys only) 

Skirts

  • Blue school skirt needs to be below the knee when  seated

Headwear /Jewelry/ Accessories:

  • Hijab must be pinned in place (if worn), this must be all black, blue or all white 
  • Earrings - Small sleepers or studs are permitted with one earring in each ear. Facial piercing and facial enhancements are not permitted  
  • Watches are the only acceptable jewellery to be worn on the wrist, no bracelets, rings or necklaces
  • Cosmetics - Clear nail polish is acceptable, all other cosmetics are not to be worn at school. Students wearing  coloured nail polish or artificial nails will be asked to remove it immediately  
  • Hair shoulder length or longer must be tied up off the neck and back. No hair should cover the face
    • Extreme Hair – No unnatural colours, no lines or markings cut into the hair and haircuts must be of the same  length (Mohawks, Tails, Logos shaved into the head and asymmetrical haircuts are not permitted) any issues will  result in parent contact and the expectation is the hairstyle will be fixed ASAP  
  • Sun-smart hats must be worn in the sun, consistent with our Sun-smart policy. In Secondary a peaked hat must  be worn when outside 

Students are expected to have their Physical Education (PE) uniform with them, when they have PE

  • School approved house polo shirt, VISS PE track pants, or other navy blue track pants which are not tight, VISS PE  shorts must reach below the knee for both boys and girls, trainers with white socks, VISS bathers/swimsuit and  swim cap for swimming. Gym leggings are not permitted unless VISS PE shorts are worn on top. 

Please note: Secondary school students do not wear their PE uniform for the whole day when they have PE, but must  change at appropriate times.

The VISS on-site uniform shop will be open to one family at a time dring restriction.

The shop will only open from 8:00am until 4:00pm Sunday to Thursday

Saturdays 8:00am - 4:00pm
