Announcement

Dear Parents,

I am pleased to announce that we have now received the final Safety Guidelines from SPEA regarding the Reopening of Schools and that we are fully confident we can meet the high standard of safety, hygiene and physical distancing to enable all of our students to return to school safely for the upcoming term.

Over the coming weeks we will be sending detailed information to all families, that will outline all aspects of school life, including detailed safety procedures, for the upcoming term.

In the meantime, here are some key considerations:

  • VISS will be offering 100 % Face to Face teaching on campus for all students under strict and controlled safety measures
  • Although we support SPEA's view that students should be physically at school, for those students who have existing Medical conditions or anxiety about returning to school, the option for fulltime Distance Learning will also be available during the first term of school under specific conditions.
  • The first five weeks of school will be a "Transition back to school period" I.
  1. During this period, there will be an alternative timetable for all students and a shorter physical day
  2. In the initial weeks, there will be some staggering of days for students. This may mean students may be working at school for a day and at home for a day over the first few weeks of school.
  3. The focus of the first weeks will be to make sure all students understand the new safety procedures and modes of learning.
  4. There will also be a dedicated focus on student Wellbeing during this period as we transition students back to school
  5. We aim to call all families directly in the week leading up to school as part of our inclusive wellbeing initiative

Some of the new safety initiatives you can expect will be:

  • Strict social distancing of 1.5 meters
  • Defined Drop off And Pick up points
  • Temperature checks for all student and staff in designated controlled areas
  • Mandated use of masks above Prep
  • All staff Covid -19 tested before school begins
  • Thorough training for our nurses and school doctor in Covid 19 safety
  • Increased Hygiene and safety training for all students
  • Significant redesigning of learning spaces to ensure safe distancing in all areas of school life
  • Regular thorough cleaning and sanitizing across the school
  • Regular "Deep Cleaning"
  • Access to sanitizer across the school and in all classrooms
  • Smaller groups in ELC and Prep
  • Hygiene controlled resources for students
  • Strict movement flows in congested areas
  • Defined learning, eating and playing areas for each Grade level limiting interaction beyond specific Grade levels
  • Students remain in controlled learning groups
