Leadership Team

The Leadership team at VISS is highly experienced, and brings a wealth of educational expertise to the school.

 

Dr Roderick Crouch – Principal

Dr Roderick Crouch has been an educator in several countries for nearly 30 years. Most recently, he was foundation principal of Moreton Bay Boys’ College, in Brisbane, Australia, where he introduced many curriculum innovations, including the International Baccalaureate. Dr Rod is committed to academic excellence, and assisting students to become responsible global citizens and lifelong learners. He has been involved in the establishment of several schools and has consulted on leadership and management to a number of schools across Australia. Dr Rod has also presented at education conferences across the world. He regularly writes on educational leadership issues for a variety of professional publications and is on the editorial board of the international journal ‘Leadership in Focus’.

 

 

 

 

Mr Dean Pyrah - Head of School (Secondary)

Mr Dean Pyrah has been involved in education in the Middle East for the past four years, most recently as a senior leader at Wellington International School, in Dubai. Originally from Victoria, M. Dean has been a teacher and school leader at a number of schools around the world, including Wesley College in Melbourne, Australia, and Warwick School, in the United Kingdom. Mr Dean is passionate about international education and has a passion for learning in a global context.  He has extensive experience managing a number of senior curriculum programs, including the Victorian VELS /VCE; the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and the British A and IGCSE levels.

 

 

 

 

Ms Jan Senior – Head of School (Primary)

Ms Jan Senior has been Principal of the Junior School at VISS since the school commenced. Prior to this, she was Head of Junior School at Lauriston Girls College, in Melbourne, Australia. Ms Jan is passionate about ensuring that individual student excellence is supported through effective learning and teaching practice. She believes that the VISS values of respect, integrity, excellence and learning for all provide a sound basis for academic, social and emotional growth of well-rounded global citizens.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ms Mary Azer- Director of the Early Learning Centre (ELC)

Ms Mary Azer has been principal of two schools in Melbourne, Australia. She is committed to providing a learning environment that is based on play and the all-round development of the individual child. Ms Mary ensures that the VISS Early Learning Centre program is built on an understanding that all children learn in different ways, at different rates and at different times. Building a positive attitude to learning and familiarisation with the school environment are important foundations for the years ahead. Parents and teachers are viewed as partners in this crucial stage of a young child’s development, before they are introduced to more formal learning in the primary school.
